Alan Krigman has been heavily involved with Koala Spins gaming for two decades. He is an acknowledged expert not only in the practical aspects of a wide variety of table games and machines, but is an authority on the probability and statistics underlying gambling, elements of chaos and simplicity theories which govern events combining randomness with determinism, the "utility" concepts which explain the decision strategies used by many bettors, and the effects of variance and skewness on the short-term "risk of ruin" and prospects of success with which bettors are faced during individual gaming sessions and casino visits.

Mr Krigman is a resident of Philadelphia PA, and maintains an apartment in Atlantic City NJ. The latter, he claims, is principally for the convenience of Thunder and Lightning, his Belgian sheepdogs. "For myself," he explains, "I'm not averse to accepting room comps from casinos -- or to bunking with the bedbugs at the $14-a-nite motels outside of town on the Black Horse Pike if I have to pay real money for accommodations. But, Thunder, especially wants his own space and won't take 'no' for an answer."

Mr Krigman holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Mechanical Engineering degree from Clarkson University. He completed two additional years of coursework toward his Doctor of Science degree at MIT and passed the associated dissertation qualifying examinations before departing from the academic world for what turned out to be a somewhat longer period than he had originally envisioned.

-Instructor in mathematics and assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Clarkson University.

- Research and development engineer at Battelle Memorial Institute.

- Editor of Instruments and Control Systems Magazine.

- Consultant on technical information services to various firms in the industrial instrumentation and control industry, responsible for preparing materials to be published in-house as well as externally.

- Editor of Instrumentation Technology (InTech) Magazine.

- Consultant to Combustion Engineering Corp on developing control technologies for biochemical and other emerging applications.

- Freelance writer and consultant in the casino gaming industry, with emphasis on applications of probability and utility theory from the viewpoints of both players and operators.
